This residence is located in El Salto, a beautiful enclave adjacent to the Village of Arroyo Seco. Located at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, the residence bridges a former agricultural field and fruit tree orchard. We took inspiration from old agricultural/industrial forms, as demonstrated in the roof profiles and materials; territorial-style architecture traditional to northern New Mexico, also seen in the gabled roof profiles; and ancient Hispanic haciendas with the program defining an interior courtyard.

Materials are sourced locally, and we are using a color palette that reflects both the architectural history and the environment. The owners, are sustainably inclined and have pushed this project to be entirely electric. We have specified an induction range, electric water heater, EV charging station, ventless electric dryer, and heat pump mini-split units for heating and cooling. We are also installing a high-efficiency wood-burning stove for thermal comfort and ambiance.
