The original bones of the house are believed to have been designed and built by a local craftsman, in the 1980’s. It is a traditional adobe with beautiful details. There was a later addition on the west side of the house, that holds two bedrooms and a bathroom. The current owners would like to lean into the different additions of the house and do something even more modern, that will hold the master suite and a den. This particular area of Taos can get windy and the sun can be strong so we have decided to make this a very inward looking structure, with just a few windows framing exterior views and minimizing the amount of light entering the interior spaces. There is an existing separate office structure on the property that is clad in rusted steel, so we have decided to reference that structure and clad this newest addition in the same material.
